The Band
A brief history of Naked Singularity
Naked Singularity’s tortuous history begins with a comment by astrophysicist David Palmer in an answer to a question posed to Ask An Astrophysicist. From there it was only a matter of time…
The original band performed one gig at the Goddard Rec Center in 2001, following which several members left. The next incarnation of the band (Maggie, Kevin, Rich, and Tali) coalesced in December 2001 and stayed together for the next 4-5 years – that’s like a lifetime to a rock band! Sadly Tali spontaneously combusted took a job at MIT. We were sad to see him go. But we were lucky enough to have Rob join the band as our new drummer in July of 2006. Joe joined us on guitar not long after.
Want to listen to a brief interview? (Recorded but not used for the NASA Blueshift Podcast. Because it’s the most awkward interview ever.) Here’s a more, er, serious version of it.
We also did an interview with Lanea Stagg for her radio show.
